Groton's Sustainability Commission previewed an October 28 energy seminar and flagged new heating relief ahead of winter. Members detailed a one-time $680 rebate for oil-heat households and a $25,000 zero-interest "Z-loan" for electric customers switching to heat pumps. Separately, the commission said a town staff contact, Mark Haddad, verbally agreed to consider adding $5,000 to its fiscal year 2028 budget. Member Virginia "Ginger" Vollmar criticized the town's Groton 2036 transportation study for proceeding "without input from any commissions in town," calling the plan "horrendous" and urging residents to submit written comments by November 2 ahead of a November 19 public listening session. The minutes from August 20 and September 15 were approved by roll call votes of 6-0 and 5-0-1, respectively.
