GROTON — The Great Pond Advisory Committee reported the state installed new parking signage at the Lost Lake boat ramp, giving Groton police a basis to ticket improperly parked vehicles. Member Alexander Woodle said a state contact, Don Cherry, had lines painted and signage posted within weeks of the committee's request. Member Steve Beard said the striped area yields only five legal parking spots plus one handicapped space, calling the situation "quite a challenge" for busy weekends and fishing tournaments.
The committee voted 6-0 to consolidate financial signing authority under member Dane Krampitz for bills from the Groton Electric Light Department and Solitude Lake Management. Members also reviewed a 1955 town bylaw setting a 50-foot shoreline buffer on Lost Lake, and Beard said he wants to meet with town officials before proposing any updates.
