Town Meeting · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Groton officials previewed a 16-article warrant for the October 3 Fall Town Meeting, including a withdrawn camera-ban petition and a revived $3.9 million park project. Town Manager Mark Haddad said a citizen petition to ban Flock license-plate cameras was withdrawn after he and the police chief announced the cameras would be removed anyway. The Cow Pond Brook Fields project returns at a reduced $3.9 million after failing its two-thirds vote in the spring, with bids $300,000 under estimate and Dunstable Youth Baseball kicking in $20,000 for lighting.
Free cash was certified at $2,066,320. Select Board Chair Peter Cunningham called the fields project "a real community project" with "a lot of support out there." Finance Committee Chair David Minugian said his committee voted 5-0 against a citizen-petitioned senior tax freeze (Article 15) while still reviewing a Select Board-backed means-tested exemption worth up to $1,250 per qualifying senior (Article 12). The Country Club is also seeking $1.7 million for irrigation upgrades.
