Stewardship Committee Elects Adam Vice Chair

Stewardship Committee · Meeting of August 19, 2026

Groton's Stewardship Committee elected Adam as vice chair, replacing Kim, who resigned. The volunteer panel, meeting with Chair Owen dialing in from Badlands National Park, also learned grant money for invasive-species work at Carol Wheeler Park must be spent before March 2027, prompting plans to order seeds early and seek flexibility from funders on plant purchases. Members debated a possible controlled burn at the Walnut Run parcel to fight thick bittersweet, with Charlotte calling it "a very cost effective as well as effortless way of managing some of the issues." The committee also could not confirm a public right-of-way to a conservation parcel near Island Pond Road slated for an August 31 site walk, with one member asking, "How do we ever accept a lot that we have no frontage on?"
