Two Groton Committee Seats Open as Volunteer Applications Sought

It was a slow news Thursday for Groton, with no fresh announcements from Town Hall, the schools, or the library. The most actionable items for residents are a pair of open committee seats posted on the town's homepage in recent weeks.

TOWN HALL

Two volunteer committee vacancies are currently posted on the town's official website and remain open for applications.

The Community Preservation Committee has an at-large member seat to fill, per state law requirements under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 41, Sections 10 and 11. Residents interested in serving on the committee, which oversees Community Preservation Act funds for open space, historic preservation, community housing, and recreation projects, can find details at grotonma.gov.

Separately, a Finance Committee seat opens July 1, 2026, with the appointment to be made by a three-person appointing authority. The Finance Committee reviews the town budget and makes recommendations to Town Meeting. Residents interested in either seat can submit a Committee Interest Form through the town website.
