Board of Health · Meeting of October 19, 2026

Groton's Board of Health adopted amended well regulations addressing PFAS and approved septic variances for a fire-rebuilt Lowell Road home. The board closed a PFAS-focused public hearing on Chapter 330 well regulations that had run since September 21, voting unanimously to adopt the amendments, which set a 20 parts-per-trillion limit for irrigation wells. Engineer Jack Maloney of Dillis and Roy won unanimous approval of multiple septic and well variances for a 605 Lowell Road rebuild after a fire, calling the new system "fantastic" for the constrained lot.

At 25 Brown Lane, staff flagged that a 12-room house carries only a three-bedroom deed restriction despite a state formula suggesting a six-bedroom septic requirement; the board continued that matter, and held the building permit, until November 2. A Housing Court hearing on 23 Cypress Road, where staff described an uncooperative landlord, is set for November 4, with condemnation under consideration.
