Groton Board of Health adopts wood waste regulations, advances PFAS well limits
Board of Health · Meeting of August 17, 2026
Groton Board of Health adopts new wood waste rules, moves to tighten PFAS well limits. The board unanimously adopted revised Chapter 332 wood waste regulations after a resident pressed for clarity on backyard brush piling, then unanimously approved routine variances for 11 Saddle Lane and a septic upgrade at 113 Radden Road presented by engineer Kirk Fitzpatrick. Neighbors of a 31 Adams Avenue cabinet shop described machinery noise as "horrible all day" and the case was continued to September 21 while the town pursues certified-mail notice alongside a separate DEP hazardous-waste complaint.
The board reached consensus to advertise draft well regulations lowering the irrigation-well PFAS threshold from 20 to 4 parts per trillion and extending the well-decommissioning deadline to 12 months, ahead of a September 21 public hearing. Members also approved adding H2O Care as a subsidiary of approved water sampler SafeWell/GBA and deferred a Camp Periwinkle licensing dispute to Nashoba Associated Boards of Health.
