Conservation Commission · Meeting of March 10, 2026

GROTON — The Groton Conservation Commission voted 6-0 to close a years-long hearing and issue orders of conditions capping the Hollingsworth and Vose landfill on Townsend Road. Attorney Bob Collins, representing the applicant, said the closure effort has been underway "at least 10 years." Separately, resident Adam Burnett pressed the commission on tree-clearing along the Nashua River performed for 29 years by a Groton School contractor without formal permits, arguing "this isn't just, you know, write a letter or call up." Member Olin Lathrop requested a formal filing and management plan. The commission also learned the Community Preservation Committee recommended $4.2 million to Town Meeting for the Cowpond Brook playing fields project, and voted to extend wetlands permits for 6 Wyman Road to October 27, 2026.
