Conservation Commission · Meeting of March 24, 2026
Groton Conservation Commission continued the Cow Pond Brook Park renovation hearing to April 14 over turtle lighting concerns. Member Olin Lathrop challenged Activitas engineer Meg Bozinski over whether new $4,500 LED athletic lights could disrupt turtle migration with blue-shifted wavelengths, saying "I don't buy that. I just don't agree with that." The commission separately voted 3-2 to deny a certificate of compliance for a completed pool at 16 West Main Street (DEP file 169-1282), citing unstable ground cover and unresolved fencing questions under both the Groton bylaw and state building code.
It also approved, for two years, Groton School's renewed request to clear fallen trees from the Nashua River, after a resident named Adam raised concerns that unidentified parties were also cutting riverside trees. Commissioners additionally approved a town water line expansion and a six-foot-wide Eagle Scout trail bridge project.
