Commission closes Indian Hill wetlands hearing
Groton Conservation Commission closed a hearing on a wetlands addition and voted to trim its own CPA funding request.
Conservation Commission · Meeting of February 10, 2026
Groton Conservation Commission closed a hearing on a wetlands addition and voted to trim its own CPA funding request. The panel unanimously approved conditions at 26 Indian Hill Road requiring 5,560 square feet of lawn be naturalized in perpetuity, with inspection rights and invasive-species controls. Member Bruce Easom argued for cutting the commission's fiscal 2027 Community Preservation Act request, currently $300,000, saying "the goodwill generated by reducing it from $100,000 to zero is much more than the value of putting an additional $100,000 in our $1.2 million bank account." Members also learned a dam removal project could cost the town nothing if state ecological restoration funds cover it, and continued that hearing to Feb. 24, 2026.
A resident named Virginia asked the board to address a neighbor's use of road salt near wetlands; members said no bylaw currently prohibits it.
