Community Preservation Committee · Meeting of June 8, 2026

GROTON — The Groton Community Preservation Committee voted unanimously to signal willingness to receive a reduced-scope, out-of-cycle application for the Capron Brook Fields project, months after a related funding article failed to reach the two-thirds vote required at Town Meeting. One member said the proposal "didn't even get a majority vote" this spring. Members cited a roughly $1 million grant deadline and a pending Conservation Commission enforcement order over an access-road violation as reasons the project might return before the normal funding cycle.

A member who handles treasurer-type duties said CPA project records kept by a past administrator "leave a lot to be desired," with files in unlabeled, inconsistent folders. The committee, which can spend up to 5 percent of CPA revenue on administration, discussed hiring help or buying document-management software. Members also approved their meeting minutes unanimously on a voice vote.
