Groton's town manager cancels Flock Safety camera contract, punts policy decision to 2027 town meeting. The manager, identified only as Mark, terminated the license-plate reader contract effective immediately Monday in consultation with Police Chief Mike Luth and Deputy Chief Rachel Meade after residents raised privacy concerns, saying "we're not going to play games with this." Select Board Vice Chair Rebecca "Becky" Pine presided in Chair Peter Cunningham's absence. The Police Camera Working Group holds a public forum September 24 at 6 p.m. at the Groton Center.
The board also opened a joint hearing with the Finance Committee on 19 warrant articles for the October 3 Fall Town Meeting, including $134,071 in budget transfers and a $33,571 regionalized veteran services officer position with Pepperell and Littleton. Officials said a fiscal 2028 override will likely be necessary.
