Sustainability Commission · Meeting of August 20, 2026
GROTON — The Groton Sustainability Commission voted 7-0 to authorize $350 for pollinator garden irrigation repairs and reviewed a year of multi-town energy grant work worth nearly $900,000. Treasurer Bruce Easom reported the commission closed fiscal 2026 with $5,626.39 left to roll forward, warning the panel is "burning at about $3,000 a year" and will likely need a new Town Meeting appropriation for fiscal 2028. Easom also said Groton is "about a year behind" on its FEMA-required Hazard Mitigation Plan, with comments due to the consultant by August 28 and public hearings expected this fall.
Members separately agreed to pursue an October tour of a grid-scale battery storage facility as their next public seminar, ahead of a August 31 Select Board presentation on the four-town energy manager program.
