GROTON — The Park Commission rejected a motion asking the town manager to ensure the town is indemnified if the Cow Pond contractor misses grant deadlines. The state grant carries a $1 million reimbursement, and Town Manager Mark told commissioners that work must finish by Nov. 30, 2027. He asked them to name one or two members to join project meetings.
One member said boards "should not" write contract language, and the motion failed with one abstention. The commission rescinded three CPC proposals and moved to request an extension of the gate closure order to Nov. 15. It directed the DPW director to decide on fall fertilizing and set a Shepley Hill conservation restriction presentation for Nov. 10.
