Complete Streets Panel Backs Lover's Lane Bid
Groton's Complete Streets Committee voted 6-0 to send the Lover's Lane sidewalk and crosswalk project out to bid.
Complete Streets Committee · Meeting of June 26, 2026
Groton's Complete Streets Committee voted 6-0 to send the Lover's Lane sidewalk and crosswalk project out to bid. Committee member Brian Callahan said the Department of Public Works will handle significant site work to offset costs after the design, revised to drop a $90,000 slope treatment, still totals about $509,000 against a $432,600 state grant. Member Takashi Tada said delaying would increase costs, pushing the panel to lock in pricing now.
Member Gordon D. Row separately detailed a $50,000 Massachusetts Downtown Initiative grant, developed with Destination Groton, for rail trail gateway signage near Main Street, with a decision expected in October. The committee also approved its May 29 minutes 6-0 and set its next meeting for August 21.
