Select Board · Meeting of September 14, 2026
GROTON — The Groton Select Board finalized a leaner fall Town Meeting warrant and advanced a PFAS hookup-aid policy. The board voted unanimously to issue the warrant for the Oct. 3 meeting after Town Manager Mark reported bids for the Cow Pond Brook field project came in $300,000 under estimate, cutting the request to $3.9 million, with a local youth baseball group pledging $20,000 toward lights. Town Accountant Patricia reported fiscal 2026 free cash certified at $2,066,000, calling it "a good surprise." The board discussed, but did not adopt, a draft policy to cover 85 percent of water hookup costs for Chicopee Row residents who test above PFAS limits after a nearby contamination site closes, sending it to town counsel ahead of a Sept. 20 vote.
The Finance Committee voted unanimously against a separate senior property tax freeze citizen's petition, which the Select Board declined to formally recommend.
