Select Board · Meeting of May 18, 2026

Groton's Select Board voted to keep its Flock Safety license plate camera contract running through fiscal 2027 instead of terminating it. Vice Chair Rebecca "Becky" Pine's motion to end the agreement, prompted by a town meeting vote that cut the funding, failed amid a dispute over whether it had a valid second; a competing motion to continue the contract passed on a non-unanimous vote. Town Manager Mark acknowledged he had wrongly told town meeting the deal ran three years; it actually covers two.

Deputy Police Chief Rachel Mead said access is now limited to three officers and that "we do not share with federal agencies unless they require us to by law." A seven-member working group will review the program. The board also unanimously ratified Tammy as principal assessor, effective June 1, succeeding Megan Foster, who is leaving for a job in Andover.
