Groton's Complete Streets Committee heard that $50,000 in Chapter 90 money is set aside for a Main Street safety study. Brian Callahan put the committee's Complete Streets grant award at $432,617.50 and said Niche Engineering is preparing both projects for spring bidding. A speaker said the study should cost about $100,000, with MDM Transportation Consultants to examine parking, traffic calming, roundabouts and speed from Old Air Road to Elm Street.
A pending LEAP grant application could add funding. Members noted that Main Street speed limits are set by the state, and a member said it would be "very hard" to change without Select Board pressure. The committee adjourned by roll call without setting a monthly meeting date.
