Board of Health · Meeting of February 2, 2026
Groton's Board of Health voted to repeal swimming pool regulations and revise its septic code at the February 2 meeting. The board unanimously adopted amended Chapter 315 subsurface sewage disposal rules, narrowing abutter notification from a 300-foot radius to direct abutters only, after an amendment passed on a voice vote with one member opposed. Members unanimously repealed Chapter 319, the town's swimming pool regulations, saying the building commissioner's office already enforces equivalent safety rules through the building code.
The board also granted an emergency well variance for Anita Anderson's failing well at 125 Ames Road and approved a natural-light variance for a David LeBlanc attic renovation on Pogus Trail, conditioned on a deed restriction keeping the house a three-bedroom. Engineer Frank Bartland of Dillis and Roy said abutters notified under the old rule often "feel like their time was wasted."
