Groton Planning Board Approves Dental Office and Cannabis Dispensary at Mill Run Plaza

GROTON — July 14, 2022 — Groton Planning Board clears dental office and cannabis dispensary for former Main Street Bank building. The board voted 6-0 at its July 14 virtual meeting to approve major site plan reviews for Orange Blossom Dental in Suite B and UC Retail LLC's adult-use marijuana dispensary in Suite A at 489 Main Street, the former Main Street Bank operations center at Mill Run Plaza. Attorney John Amaral presented for all parties, with engineer Greg Roy of Dills and Roy walking the board through exterior improvements including a new dispensary entrance canopy, a secure rear loading area with porous asphalt and a six-foot vinyl fence, and egress pads for both suites. Member George Beringer secured conditions requiring all-weather egress walkways and a crash-bar pedestrian gate on the dispensary's security enclosure; member Lorraine Black won commitments for enhanced native plantings and visual screening between the rear loading area and Route 119. Planning Director Takashi Tada will prepare draft written decisions incorporating those conditions for review at an in-person August 4 meeting. The board also unanimously endorsed an Approval Not Required plan splitting a 4.3-acre parcel at 468 Main Street into two conforming lots, with owner Jeff Brem stating plans to build a duplex and demolish the long-derelict former Bridle and Spur restaurant on the site.
