GROTON — The Groton Select Board approved the warrant for the May 2 Spring Town Meeting and backed a dam land acquisition article by a 4-1 margin. Select Board Chair Peter Cunningham urged residents to watch a March 31 statehouse hearing on declining state aid for schools. The board ratified a $29,468,816 fiscal 2027 school budget, up $1.2 million, or 4.3 percent, after the Finance Committee's unanimous recommendation.

The town manager said the West Groton Dam article, needing $133,000 in Community Preservation Act funds and up to $679,000 in bonded debt, "will not" raise taxes. Separately, the town manager announced a roughly $2 million zero-interest state loan change order expected to save about $1 million on the next phase of Groton's PFAS water line project.
