Select Board · Meeting of March 30, 2026
Groton's Select Board ratified interim building and zoning appointments and weighed a dam-funding plan meant to dodge a tax override. Town Manager Mark asked the Community Preservation Committee to put up $133,000 plus $45,000 a year toward the $812,500 Squannacook River Dam repair, saying the approach would "eliminate the need for a proposition 2 1/2 debt exclusion." The board unanimously ratified Ed Cataldo as acting building commissioner and Michelle Collette as acting zoning enforcement officer after Bob Garside's resignation. Members split 4-1 on a $100,000 Affordable Housing Trust warrant article and a tax-levy exemption article.
The Sustainability Commission reported GELD commissioners voted 2-1 to back the Specialized Stretch Energy Code, projected to save new all-electric homeowners "about $1,300 per year," ahead of a May 2 Town Meeting vote.
