Groton's Select Board voted to pursue grants and permits toward removing the West Groton Dam, days after Town Meeting rejected roughly $750,000 to repair it. Dam consultant Tom told the board the removal process could take "two or three years," starting with a commitment letter to the state's Division of Ecological Restoration. Select Board member Rebecca Pine opposed the motion, saying "I don't think that the five of us should make that decision" without a guaranteed future Town Meeting vote.
The board separately ratified Christopher Rogers as building commissioner, adopted a 2025-2030 Housing Production Plan showing 42 percent of renters are cost-burdened, and approved a license for Tully Farm Scoop Shop at 30 Hollis Street. The town also lost a $1 million grant and $145,000 in spent design funds after Town Meeting rejected the Cowpen Brook Fields project.
