GROTON — The Groton Stewardship Committee voted to accept a site walk report for the Noonan conservation parcel and advanced plans to treat invasive species with herbicides. Members said a "cut and drip" method will target knotweed on a parcel referred to as "the T," likely in mid-to-late June, while bittersweet removal proceeds separately at Carl Wheeler Park. To limit public exposure to herbicides, the committee agreed only members of the Stewardship Committee, the Invasive Species Committee and the Conservation Commission would take part, with signage posted at the treatment site.
The panel also discussed the town's Open Space and Recreation Plan update, which drew 10 consultant bids that need ranking against 15 criteria before a June 1 volunteer deadline, each review estimated to take about two hours. The next site walk was set for June 3 at 2 p.m.
