Stewardship Committee · Meeting of June 17, 2026
Groton's Stewardship Committee put off removing roughly six hazardous trees near the Petapawag boat launch, awaiting a Park Commission liability opinion. Member Adam said he had flagged six dangerous trees to the Department of Public Works, but DPW's Brian replied that removal was not the agency's responsibility. Member Anna countered the committee is "not responsible for anticipating that a tree may or may not fall down," while Charlotte agreed to ask Park Commission contact Mark about exposure if someone is hurt at the site's picnic tables.
The committee also finalized a Saturday knotweed-treatment workday on MBTA land near Carroll Wheeler Park and set its next site walk, at Ames Meadow, for July 2 at 3 p.m. Members voted unanimously to adjourn.
