GROTON — The Groton Planning Board continued a hearing on a major redesign of the Cow Pond Brook Athletic Fields to March 12 after raising concerns about stormwater drainage and playground safety. Civil engineer Megan Vizinski of Activitas presented the plan for applicant Mark Haddad, the town manager, which includes 295 parking spaces and a retaining wall up to 10 feet tall. Board member David Bonnett warned the proposed underground stormwater chambers were "a path of potential disaster," while Vizinski countered that "water doesn't go anywhere" on the flat site.
The board also voted 6-0 to reduce the Village at Shepley Hill bond to $41,975 and voted 6-0 to release a $124,000 bond for the completed Bluebird Lane roadway. Conservation Commission member Bruce Eason objected to a separate Shepley Hill request to swap granite boundary markers for wooden signs, saying "granite bounds are our friends."
